During our time in Texas, we had the pleasure of going on a ride with the crew from Ghisallo Cycling Initiative. Envisioning a community of comfortable and confident lifelong riders, they aspire to create a future in which people of all ages and abilities can explore and connect with their communities by bicycle and all have access to bikes at an affordable cost. Their mission is to enable historically underserved populations to access their interests by bike. They accomplish their mission by providing direct services to the public, including bicycle education and encouragement; skills training and support for new riders; deployment of bicycles, equipment and maintenance facilities; support to organizations and projects that are mission-aligned; route maps; incentives for parents to ride with their children to school and adults to commute to work by bike and solutions to community transportation barriers. They showed us one of their favorite routes, pointed out new infrastructure that was created during the Final Mile project and shared some great stories. Check out pictures from our ride below and be sure to learn more about them by going to ghisallo.org and following them on social media @ghisallocycling
