Low 90s as the high and super humid: great day for a longer ride in D.C.! Gotta stay hydrated and rep team PFB. Even though there aren't technically "state parks" in Washington, D.C., we have an abundance of park space under the District Department of Parks and Recreation and of course, federal land with our many national parks. Heading out on my ride, I'll be adjacent to some state parks in Virginia and Maryland, but staying the course on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Towpath (C&O Canal), which is managed by the National Park Service. The closest I could get to celebrating 100 years of Iowa State Parks, if you can believe it!
Scenes of the Potomac River from the towpath.
Sometimes, D.C. sunsets can deliver. A sweet sherbet sky treat on my way home :)
